Cloud in Darling Point

Madeleine Blanchfield Architects transforms Hopewood, a 1970s apartment in Sydney’s Darling Point, into a home that embraces its spectacular Harbour views with a distinctly Australian spirit.

Spanning two wings, the apartment features a kitchen to the east and a dining space to the west, each anchored by monolithic travertine elements. Cloud French Oak flooring runs throughout, with subtle shifts in direction and stepped ceiling heights that define the distinct zones, creating a harmonious flow.

Blanchfield’s careful material selection combines warmth and texture, grounding the apartment against its bold views. “The materials are fresh yet nostalgic,” she says, “with classic touches that nod to Darling Point’s heritage.”
