Cloud & Ground in Mornington Peninsula
Pandolfini Architects designed Wildcoast House as a family retreat that balances openness with protection and community with solitude, responding to its rugged Victorian coastal setting. Rough masonry, timber screens, and landscaped mounds allow the home to feel as though it has grown from the land, while layered interiors unfold from a cave-like entry into bright, tactile spaces. The robust material palette, including textured render, travertine paving, and Cloud 90s boards, which have been used to timber-line the ceilings, brings the landscape indoors and ensures the house wears in gracefully with everyday life.
Ground boards were used for the stairs and flooring, combining durability with understated elegance. Their warm tones complement the homeβs muted palette and sculpted forms, reinforcing a sense of cohesion throughout the interiors while enhancing the tactile, coastal-inspired character of the space.
