Cinder in Elsternwick

Engaged to design a generous extension to a double-fronted Victorian house in Elsternwick, Melbourne architecture studio Castley McCrimmon tempered their approach, seeking softness rather than severity in the juncture between old and new.

The flooring is a direct result of the juxtaposition between contemporary and traditional design, with the Castley McCrimmon selecting Cinder from our Touch Collection in a chevron pattern, in the process developing a contemporary interpretation of traditional parquetry flooring. Not only is this a nod to the heritage nature of the building but it also creates a feeling of cohesion from front to back.
